The Care of the Garden

The OHCC Sanctuary is planted and maintained solely by the SMB Club and residents. This involves making sure that the area is carefully groomed, that adequate food and water are available to our “visitors”, and ensure that the area is protected from wildlife that can harm the butterflies and plants.

We have a dedicated Director who oversees these activities.

Teams of club members serve as “docents” to maintain the garden on a weekly basis. In addition, they volunteer and hour or two of their time in the garden to greet, provide information, and answer questions when residents visit.  They will help identify the butterflies and plants.

Our ability to maintain the Sanctuary relies solely on dues and donations.
